Backstory: Ty says, "I have always been an earnest seeker, forever searching for the meaning of life, and this song is me admitting that I still don’t really know anything — except that I found my person, which I know for sure. That part is undeniable and true, and wouldn’t it be nice if there were even one other thing in life that I could feel that certain about? Wouldn’t it be nice to have landed on a theory of why we’re here, or have made some progress in therapy? Wouldn’t it be lovely to truly believe that politically we are evolving rather than crashing and burning? (Spoiler alert: Later in the album, in 'My Country,' I do get there!) But even if I don’t have any real certainty around any of it, it’s OK because I have Ingrid, and that’s one thing I never question. And because life is so unpredictable and the world is such a mess, I’ve always felt like a relationship should not add chaos but should ideally be a shelter in the storm. A known, good thing. I want that for everyone."
